Buster and his dad go to Vermont to visit his mom’s friends, Karen and Gillian, and their three kids: Emma, David, and James. References to the family are subtle – a photo of the two moms adorns an endtable, and later in the story Buster goes to dinner with some friends of Emma’s family: “Lilly’s moms, Tracy and Gina, were very good cooks.”
